Samsung Unveils Exciting New Devices at Galaxy Unpacked Event

Samsung recently held its Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York, where it revealed several new devices. Among them were the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, which are the latest foldable smartphones from the company. Alongside these, Samsung also introduced a new line of Galaxy Watch8 wearables. While the Flip7 and the Watch8 range have their own set of upgrades, the Fold7 is clearly the highlight of the event.

During the event, I had the opportunity to get a hands-on experience with all of the new devices. Based on my experience, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is positioned to redefine what foldable smartphones can achieve. Its slim form factor and high-end specifications make it stand out. The device has a wow factor that could potentially attract many who have previously hesitated due to the high price point. It’s a significant step forward for Samsung’s flagship foldable line.

Let’s take a closer look at the details of the Galaxy Z Fold7 and other new devices.

Galaxy Z Fold7

The Galaxy Z Fold7 comes with various memory and storage configurations:

  • 12GB memory with 256GB internal storage: AUD$2,899
  • 12GB memory with 512GB internal storage: AUD$3,099
  • 16GB memory with 1TB internal storage: AUD$3,549

This is Samsung’s most premium foldable smartphone yet. The standout feature is its extremely slim build, making it comparable in size to a traditional candybar-style phone when folded. This is paired with enhanced camera capabilities and AI-powered features, making it a strong contender in the market.

The Fold7 features the largest internal and external screens ever seen in the Fold series. The internal display measures 8.0 inches diagonally, while the external one is 6.5 inches. This is a significant improvement over the previous model. Additionally, the Fold7 is lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, weighing just 215 grams, and thinner when folded at 8.9 mm.

Running on Samsung’s new One UI 8 operating system, the Fold7 is designed to handle complex tasks through intelligent multitasking tools. The OS supports real-time language translation and generative photo edits, enhancing user experience.

The camera system includes a 200.0 MP wide-angle lens, a 12.0 MP lens, and a 10.0 MP lens. The 200.0 MP wide-angle lens offers four times the detail of the previous model. The main display also features a 10.0 MP camera with a 100-degree angle, making it easier to capture selfies and important moments.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is now available for pre-order and will launch on August 1st, 2025. It comes in Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet-black, and an online-exclusive Mint finish. The pricing starts at AUD$2,899, with the highest-spec model priced at AUD$3,549, though pre-orders are available at a reduced price of AUD$3,349.

Galaxy Z Flip7

The Galaxy Z Flip7 is more accessible than its Fold counterpart. It features an upgraded cover screen, a slimmer build, and improved camera performance. The most notable upgrade is the new 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow, which is edge-to-edge, similar to the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra.

The Flip7 also runs on One UI 8, offering an intuitive, one-handed experience. It includes features like real-time filters and a zoom slider for enhanced photography. The phone has a 50MP Wide and a 12MP Ultra-Wide lens, providing excellent clarity in various lighting conditions.

Available in Blue Shadow, Jetblack, and Coralred, the Flip7 comes in two storage options: 256GB and 512GB. Pricing starts at AUD$1,799 for the 256GB model, with the 512GB model available at the same price for pre-orders.

Galaxy Z Flip7 FE

In addition to the Flip7, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, an even more affordable option. It features a 6.7-inch main display, a 50MP FlexCam for high-quality selfies, and personalized updates through Now Brief functionality. Available in Black and White, the Flip7 FE is priced at AUD$1,499 for the 128GB model and AUD$1,599 for the 256GB model.

Galaxy Watch8 Range

Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra. These wearables are designed for health monitoring and daily use. The Galaxy Watch8 comes in 40 mm and 44 mm sizes, with prices ranging from AUD$649 to AUD$799. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic features a rotating bezel and is priced between AUD$899 and AUD$999. The Galaxy Watch Ultra, the most advanced model, is priced at AUD$1,299.
